So most of you know that I had a problem with the main zipper on my Icon Bombshell jacket. Others know that I was refused by the manufacture (Icon) to warranty or work with me on the broken jacket because it was about 4 weeks out of warranty. I was in contact through email with an Icon rep and was advised that he would take to management as he could not make the final call on this. I sent him detailed pictures of the malfunctioned zipper as well. After about a week, I was told that Icon was not going to anything for me and to try contacting the company I originally purchased the jacket from. This frustrated me, to think that the manufacture wouldn’t stand by their product, even though it’s a few weeks out of warranty. I wasn't necessarily wanting an entire new jacket, but wanted it fixed. It’s not like in Arizona we get to wear our leather all year long. Shoot and even this year, I broke out the leather far later than last year.
Anyway, I called the company I purchased the jacket from and gave them my story. The rep told me he needed to call his Icon rep for approval and would call me back. About 20 minutes later I get a call, I was told to ship my Icon jacket back to him as he got his required approval. I was SO happy to hear this news. The next day I shipped the jacket back to Arkansas, it was delivered by Jan 6. I called Jan 13 to check on the status and was told the guy (Brian) was talking to their Icon rep at that moment and he would call me back. On that call back Brian said I’m all set. I would receive an email with the tracking number and the jacket would be shipped out that same day. That was exciting news for me! So now I’m just waiting for UPS to deliver my jacket so I can start riding comfortably again. Yaaay!
So in the end Icon did not stand by their product from a direct customer point of view, but the Icon rep for the company I purchased the jacket from did. How the hell does that work out?
